Paper in the Poplars
LYONS ART ADVENTURE
SEPTEMBER 9-10, 2023
Come enjoy the shade of the magical poplars on the Sivy Farm in Lyons and learn how to make paper from natural fibers and plants that we forage, provide for you, or that you bring. On Saturday, enjoy a gorgeous homemade farm-to-table lunch after the workshop. Sunday, we are thrilled to welcome Boulder artist, photographer and bookbinder Lauren Harper who will guide us through the process of making a handmade book using our beautiful paper!
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Saturday 9/9/23
8:45 - arrive, greetings
9:00 - Learn about the paper making process, gather grasses and seeds, and choose from the natural materials we provide.
Spend the morning creating your own handmade sheets of paper and learn some simple hand lettering and visual journaling techniques.
12:00 - Farm to Table lunch

9:00 - Meet Lauren Harper, introduction to bookmaking
Using your beautiful paper, create books with simple and beautiful bindings.

Lauren Harper
Lauren is an artist, photographer, and bookbinder based in Boulder. She studied photography at Syracuse University, and worked for a photo book publisher in New York City, before pursuing a certificate in book binding from the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland. Since returning to her hometown of Boulder, she spends most of her time gardening and pursuing various adventures in hand crafting. She makes commissioned books and boxes, and is continuing her education at the American Academy of Bookbinding in Telluride, CO.
